On an occasion of anniversary of Dr. S. S. Kalbag (founder of Vigyan Ashram) on 30th July. VA organizes open house exhibition open to all. In which IBT schools also participates with their projects and products. This year total 9 IBT schools had participated in this open house exhibition. In which total 7 schools were from IBT model program. These schools had put their stall for exhibition and sell. The student has sold various items of approx. Rs. 6000 in this exhibition.
IBT students prepared bench using RCC column and Ferro cement sheet.
Location: KulswamiKhanderay Vidyalaya, Hiware, Dist- Pune. Description:
The school students were in a need to have something to seat on the ground. So as a sample activity they have decided to build a bench under IBT activity. Accordingly, under-engineering section IBT students introduced to the process of preparing bench by using RCC column & ferro cement sheet. In this activity students firstly prepared the engineering drawing and started working on the foundation RCC column. Then prepared a ferro cement sheet of size 2.6 ft. length x1.3 ft. breadth. After getting dry student fixed the ferro cement sheet over the RCC columns already built. After getting ready students paint the same. Now the school is planning to make more benches on the ground & in village.
Tested 252 drinking water samples through 28 IBT schools under cleanliness campaign of Prime Minister.
Location: 28 schools across Maharashtra Description:
It is important to check quality of water to know it is drinkable or not. Since many diseases mainly caused through the water. In Sep & Oct 2018 school participated in the Prime Minister Cleanliness Campaign. The schools decided to test the drinking water quality using simple water testing technology is available in IBT.
In this activity students collected the drinking water samples from 252 sources & tested the same using H2S strip bottle test. Out of 252 sample 32 were not fit for drink. The test result were communicated to the respective people who were using that water. Also the students communicated the method through which we can make that water drinkable such as use of Mediclor & use boiled water.
Make something week celebration
Location: Mukhai, Bhiwadi, Nagaj, Kurze, SHirval, Vadachapat & Malvan Description:
This activity was aimed at creating the excitement of making among students. This will also help to create interest about the IBT program among the students. It was organized in the 2nd and 3rd week of Aug 2019. The activity themes were, Repair, Reuse & recycle, DIY stuff and Cooking. In this, all the students enjoyed working with hand and learn new things in just a week. Students provided a community service of approx. Rs. 48000+.
Solar cooler cap made by IBT students.
Location: Sumati Balvan School, Katraj, Pune. Description:
The summer heat has started. In IBT students introduced to various skills and technologies to solve real-life problems through innovative ideas through which students not only solve the problems but also learn the science, maths and other curricular concepts.
Due to summer heat students started thinking about cooler mainly personal cooler which can be easily portable, affordable and can use whenever required. While discussion students came up with an idea of cooler cap which will be operated on solar as well as battery.
Then with the guidance of the instructor designed a model of such a cap and prepared 2 models. One model was solar operated and another was battery operated.
In this cooler cap students used a fan, operated by a small electric motor, solar panel of 3inch X 3 inch size, clips, wires, etc. Students used and introduced to the basic electrical knowledge given to them about the electrical circuits, current, soldering, solar power, measuring, marking, costing, etc.
The cost of the cap is just Rs. 250. Which includes electric circuit cost of Rs. 190 and additional cost of the cap which is Rs. 60.
As per information received from the school total 8 caps has been sold.
Agriculture tools & festival material preparing & selling in local weekly market
Location: Swami Vivekanand Vidyalaya, Asade, Pune. Description:
On the occasion of Gauri – Ganpati festival, IBT students of Asade school were decided to prepare items for exhibition and selling in the weekly market. They prepared and exhibited agri tools and stand required for Gauri Poojan it mainly includes 10 Dantale (For garbage collection), 5 pairs of Gauri Stand (used for decoration of Gauri) and 10 dust pans. During the weekly market they sold material of Rs. 900/- and remaining item will be sold in the coming week. Around 100-120 customers visited to stall and appreciated the job done and the IBT program. Sakal News Paper covered this activity on 7th Sep 2019 (attached article). In this project work students introduced to various processes it mainly includes planning, material selection, cost estimate, using welding machine, power cutter, grinder, drill machine, carpentry tool use, calculating cost, etc.
IBT product stall at L&T Infotech Ltd., Hinjewadi
Location: L&T Infotech Ltd. Hinjewadi Description:
On the occasion of Diwali Festival, IBT students had prepared various food items and products under their practical activity. LTI recognized the same and provided an opportunity to exhibit the products and sale at Hinjewadi location on 22nd Oct 2019. In this exhibition, schools exhibited and sold Lantern, LDR smart switch, decorative light mal, Diyas, Utan, Massage oil, Shankarpali and Chiwada. The schools earned Rs. 11730. A total of 5 students and 4 instructors from 4 schools have participated. A total of 97 LTI employees visited the exhibition and purchased the products. This was also a campaign to promote volunteering for the IBT program among the LTI employees.
The IBT students prepared smart sticks for grandparents.
Location: Shree Dada Maharaj Natekar Vidhyalaya, Chikhali, Pune Description:
Chikhali school has an old age home in their campus. Students observed that old people can’t see properly in the night time and facing problem for walking. They has to take stick for support in one hand and a torch in other hand.
Students were discussed this problem with the instructor of Energy and Environment. After a detail discussion, IBT students were decided to prepare a stick that will solve the problem of support with torch and sensor to sense the obstacles which can come in front of stick to avoid accidents. For the stick, students listed out material, its cost and designed low weight, user-friendly stick. With the help of instructor students were made stick and named as “smart stick”. Stick comprise of an ultrasonic sensor which has a 3.5. fit range, buzzer to make a noise if obstacle will detect, small torch, battery and handle. Then they gave that stick to old age person to collected their feedback and made necessary changes. Cost of final stick is Rs 1000/-.
Due to this activity, students learned to find out community issues, use of IBT tools to solve the issue, types of sensors, use of the sensor, different types of circuits, soldering, wiring, and costing, etc.
IBT students prepared and served Face Mask. Covid 19 Response.

Online training conducted for instructors and students of Introduction to Basic Technology (IBT) program on 9th April, 2020 and 4th July 2020. Total 65+ instructors from 50+ number of schools participated. Ms. Harshada Raut was resource person. Following this 20+ schools already made 400+ face masks and others are in process of making it.

Online training conducted for instructors and students of the Introduction to Basic Technology (IBT) program on 6th June 2020. A total of 70+ instructors from 60+ number of schools participated. Mr. Sunny Bansode, Engineer was the resource person. Following these schools already made 15+ stand and others are in the process of making it. The school is receiving orders from the community due to good quality products at marginal prices. Two stands were given to LTI, the Shivajinagar office as well.

In this COVID 19 pandemic period provided an opportunity for students to attain IBT session online and perform the practical at their home. In this students were introduced to the first aid and its importance and how they can have first aid kit at their home which includes medicines and sanitizing material to treat primary health issues. In which students introduced to the list of medicines, sanitizing material, tools and their uses which mainly includes material and tools to treat cuts and wounds, thermometer, fever, pain relief, stomach-ache, headache tablets, etc. After the training total 60 students from various schools prepared first aid kit and starting using at home.
IBT students UV disinfection box to sanitize mobile, pen, laptop, etc
Location: Indiraji Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Moi, Pune. Description:
In covide-19 pandemic Vigyan Ashram conduct online session to prepare UV disinfection box for IBT students and instructors. After the session of making UV disinfection box to sanitize books, mobile and various items, Moi IBT school instructor and student prepared it at their home with help of IBT instructor. The box is being used in the school by school staff.
IBT students prepared a tree house for open class
Location: Sumati Balvan School, Katraj Description:
Katraj School is in a hilly area so that there are many perennial plants in the School campus and has its lots of shade. During brainstorming sessions, they got an idea of a treehouse and decided to build the same. During this work, they did not damage a tree. For this, they first prepared a base of size 15*12 ft. by digging a land. After that installed an I-channel of 10ft of height and prepared a structure. After that, they installed a 28 wooden plank of 12ft long over the top of the structure. And it fitted with a tapping screw. A wooden plank was painted with oil paint colour to prevent any loss from rainwater. They also prepared and installed a ladder to climb up and descend from the top. In this way, 2 open classrooms were ready to use one is above the structure and another below the structure. In this pandemic, residential students from the School started to use it for study. They required Rs. 25000 to prepare this.
Sprouting machine for speedup sprouting process and reduce time.
Location: Punaruthan Samrasta Gurukulam School, Chinchwad,Pune. Description:
The Chinchwad school has a Gurukulam Ashram School in which 350 students are resident which includes a food facility. The students of the school are given sprouted pulses for breakfast 3 times a week and the kitchen management was facing a problem getting quality sprouted cereals. Hence the IBT students were planned to the prepared machine for reducing time and getting quality cereals regularly. They were calculated the number of cereals as the students wanted to make a sprout from 6 kg of cereals, they took aluminium utensils and cut a hole in it. Then prepared stand to carry weight of utensils. After that, the Connected the timer with a fogger to sprinkle water on soaked cereals every two hours also keep the bubbler in the water bucket for keeping proper oxygen level. In this way, they prepared machine and started getting quality sprouted cereals within 7-8 hours daily

The total cost incurred Rs. 25000.
IBT students prepared a hydroponics model for cultivation of a vegetables.
Location: Sumati Balvan School, Katraj Description:
Katraj School is in a hilly area and they have limited fertile soil in their campus also in an agricultural section they also suffer from a water shortage. So they decided to try modern hydroponics farming technology for the cultivation of vegetables.
In this they prepared a steel structure using engineering tools of size 8 ft hight length 9 ft and 4 ft width. It has 6 PVC pipes with total 60 wholes for plantation, irrigated with 18 W electric pump programmed for irrigation after every 15 minutes with timer and 100 lit water tank. The spinach seeds are planted in the 60 cups filled with coco pit nutrients required for the crop added in a water tank so that it goes with water to the crop properly.
The harvesting will start after 35 to 40 days and for next 6 months school will be able to harvest the vegetable after every 20 to 25 days. It will be used in school kitchen. Total cost of the project is Rs 15000/-.
The Roaster machine to roast various grains prepared by IBT students.
Location: Shri. Dada Maharaj Natekar Panchkoshadharit Vidyalaya, Chikhali. Description:
Chikhali School has a kitchen used for the old age home and various programs. It used to take much time to roast the grains while preparing the food and also involves labor time and efforts using traditional method manually. Due to Covid 19 safety reason kitchen staff has reduced leads to delay in serving food.
The IBT students along with instructor decided to solve the problem of roasting time and energy. They designed and prepared a Roaster in engineering section most from the scrap material. The cost of it is Rs. 15000/-. Material used is motor of 35 Watt, scraped copper vessel of heater, gas connection, and a stand. Fan’s regulator to control the speed of the motor so that the copper vessel rotates at the required speed. This unit has a capacity of 3-4 kg. per batch. Ceiling fan cleaner is now made easy by Fan Cleaner devise.
Location: Adarsh Vidyalaya, Amboli, Pune. Description:
School peon always suffered from a ceiling fan cleaning due to its height and always missed to clean all the fans. Too much dust settles on the fan everywhere that we have seen. Taken this problem into consideration IBT students from Amboli school has prepared a device named ceiling fan cleaner. In IBT engineering students learned the plumbing activity, its materials, various joints, and useful objects.
During the design thinking process students find out the problem of fan cleaning and suggest various solutions out of this they find out and finalize the best solution and prepared a ceiling fan cleaner. First, they make a design and prepared using the following materials like U-PVC pipe of 6 ft. L-joints of 2 quantities, T-joint of 3 quantity, 2 rollers that used for painting work. Total Rs. 350/- required to make this. Very low cost but the useful device they have prepared.
